Oscar Ofori Larbi slams Akufo-Addo over rising insecurity in Ghana
He said that the unfortunate rising tensions and general state of insecurity in the country are reflective of President Akufo-Addo. Oscar Ofori Larbi's comment comes in the wake of the killing of a social activist, Ibrahim Mohammed, popularly referred to as Kaaka, by a mob, and two others who were killed by soldiers in Ejura while demonstrating against Kaaka's death. He said the President must take urgent steps to solve the growing insecurity in the country.

Government has not banned mining
Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker has stated categorically that government has not banned mining in the country. According to him, the mining sector supports the economy government cannot ban mining. Government has imported 100 commodity monitors for green mining project
The Deputy Minister said the green mining approach is to help industry places especially small-scale miners to use machines that are mercury-free. He said the government, has imported 100 commodity monitors for the green mining activities. He dismissed claims that there was a ban on licensed small-scale mining activities saying, foreigners are investing in the mining sector how much more Ghanaians, who are citizens.
East Legon: Motorcyclist shot by soldier in military pick-up vehicle
A soldier in a military pick-up that was moving behind a bullion van has allegedly shot and injured a motorcyclist at East Legon in Accra. According to an eyewitness, the soldier, who was in a military pick-up vehicle, after shooting the motorcyclist, moved on behind the bullion van without stopping. A team of police officers who reportedly witnessed the incident chased the military pick-up vehicle without success.
ECOWAS Parliament moves to remove telecommunication barriers in sub-region
The Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States will soon come up with regulations to harmonise the telecommunication sector across the sub-region. This will follow a joint meeting of three committees of the ECOWAS Parliament scheduled to take place in Effutu from Tuesday, July 27 to Thursday, July 29. The ECOWAS Parliament, also known as the Community Parliament, is one of the institutions of ECOWAS. It is the Assembly of Peoples of the Community, serving as a forum for dialogue, consultation and consensus for representatives of the people of West Africa with the aim of promoting integration.
Ashanti Region: Fire razes classrooms of St. Lisbert JHS in Abuakwa
The intervention of firefighters from the Nkawie Fire Station helped to prevent fire from destroying more classrooms and boarding facilities of a private school at Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region. The dawn fire razed about six classrooms of the St. Lisbert Junior High School, which were being used as temporary dormitories for the students. Nkawie District Fire Officer, Divisional Officer Grade 3, James Akowuah, spoke to journalists after leading his officers to put out the fire.
Plans underway to finalise roadmap for opening Komenda Sugar factory
The Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, has revealed that plans are underway to ensure the operationalisation of the Komenda Sugar Factory before the end of 2021. According to him, the transaction advisor has been asked to ensure the roadmap for the opening of the factory is finalized by the end of August 2021. The Komenda Sugar Factory was built at a cost of $35 million from an Indian EXIM Bank facility.

Minister laments 5 doctors' rejection of postings to North East Region
The North East Regional Minister, Yidana Zakaria, has expressed concern about the rejection of postings by five medical doctors to his region. According to him, only one of the doctors came around to tour health facilities in the region but never reported afterwards. According to Mr. Yidana Zakaria, several follow-ups were made to the Ministry of Health in Accra to get the doctors to report to work, but that yielded no positive results as the Ministry explained they will not repost any doctor who refused postings.

Indeed and in fact, it was John Boadu who proposed the name of the Welfare Scheme as National Constituency Officers Welfare Scheme to cater for all Constituency Officers, instead of the National Constituency Chairmen Welfare Fund, which we had earlier proposed. 1D1F: 150,000 jobs created so far, with 104 operational factories
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, has said government's One District One Factory initiative has so far created 150,975 jobs since its inception in 2017. The 1D1F program is a private sector-led initiative that seeks to create the necessary conducive environment for businesses to access funding from financial institutions and other support services from government agencies, to establish factories and production units in the various districts in the country. The Trade Minister also noted that when all factories are completed, over 280,000 jobs will be created in total.

A member of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, says Special Prosecutor nominee, Kissi Agyebeng, was unanimously recommended for approval because there wasn't any reason to reject him. Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei Owusu said, the recommendation was a unanimous decision. At the vetting, Kissi Agyebeng justified the significance of the office, arguing that any attempt to heed calls to scrap it will cast a slur on Ghana's fight against deep-rooted corruption.
